PENSACOLA, Fla. - The Southern Miss cross country team placed three runners in the top in finishing third at the Gulf Coast Stampede Cross Country Invitational Saturday morning.
Junior Stephanie Ledgerwood was the overall winner covering the 5K course in a time of 17:54.20 and holding off former Golden Zuna Portillo who ran a time of 18:04.60. Krista Moylan, who was fourth overall, ran a time of 18:17.60 followed by Jocelyn Lockhart who was ninth with a time of 18:44.40.
Rounding out the Southern Miss runners were Kara Moylan at 19 with a time of 19:27.60 and Brittany Ware at 66 with a time of 22:07.00.
Harding captured the team title with 49 points follow Alabama State with 75, Southern Miss 97, West Florida 114, West Alabama 133, Xavier-Louisiana 153, Ouachita Baptist 213, Loyola-New Orleans 224, Valdosta State 224, Spring Hill 257, Christian Brothers 212, Henderson State 319, William Carey 367, Auburn-Montgomery 394, Mobile 411 and New Orleans 414.
Southern Miss travels to Clinton, Miss., for the Choctaw Open, Oct. 15.
