Kylie Grandy places on C-USA All-Tournament Team
HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Southern Miss junior outside hitter Kylie Grandy was named to the C-USA All-Tournament Team for her two performances over last weekend's action in Bowling Green, Ky.
Grandy had 28 kills over the two matches, including 18 in the team's dramatic, five-set victory over No. 3 Rice in the first round, while the Owls entered the weekend with the league's best defense. She even added a career-high seven assists. On Saturday, Grandy collected 10 kills in three sets versus host, and eventual league champion, WKU.
The Rolesville, N.C., native was also earned second-team honors from the league at the conclusion of the regular season, her second consecutive year doing so. Grandy holds the No. 6 ranking in school history for 145 career service aces.
In each of her three years on campus, she has ranked in the top-10 for the school's single-season kill rankings by class. This year, her 389 were ninth. Grandy was held to single-digit kills just four times in 32 matches this season. She was one of three to finish in the top-10 for both kills (third, 3.98/set) and service aces (third, 0.43/set) against league foes on the year.
Southern Miss (20-12, 9-5 C-USA) finished with its fourth consecutive 20-win season and third-straight C-USA semifinal appearance.
