Volleyball's Pursell Named 2015 Libero of the Year
Pursell earns back-to-back awards
HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Conference USA has named the 2015 C-USA Volleyball individual superlative award winners, as selected by a vote of the league's 13 head coaches. Regular-season champion WKU earned the most representation with three awards, while North Texas and Southern Miss rounded out the list with one honor apiece.
Mary Pursell, one of two returning faces to the postseason awards slate, takes home Libero of the Year honors for the second-consecutive season. The three-time C-USA defensive player of the week this season leads the league in both total digs (640) and digs per set (4.85). The senior made sure to leave a legacy behind in Hattiesburg, as she set the program's single-season digs record in 2015 en route to landing herself at No. 2 all-time on the Southern Miss career list. Pursell looked cool and calm all season long, leading the Golden Eagles to a league-best 9-3 record in a league-most 12 five-set matches and the team's third straight C-USA Championships appearance.
