IRVING, Texas -- Southern Miss' Catherine Repsher has become the first league Freshman of the Year in the volleyball program's history.
Repsher, from Carl Junction, Mo., was a four-time C-USA Freshman of the Week (most in award's history). She came on real strong in her first college athletics adventure, posting career-highs of 14 kills in her first (McNeese State) and third (Tulane) matches while doing the same against No. 25 Kansas State. That McNeese match also saw Repsher amass a personal-best 10 total blocks in the four sets. She finished the regular season No. 3 in league play with 1.12 blocks per set.
Repsher was also the epitome of efficiency, producing a .400 hitting percentage of better in 10 matches.
Repsher on Wednesday was named to the C-USA All-Freshman team. She joined teammates and 2015 honorees Sarah Bell and Kylie Grandy as the fifth All-Freshman recipient in head coach Amanda Berkley's tenure.
The Golden Eagles play North Texas at 7 p.m. on Friday to open the C-USA Championships in Houston.
