Ecker Named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team

IRVING, Texas - Seven seniors and three juniors highlight the 2012 Conference USA All-Academic Volleyball Team, as selected by the league's Sports Information Directors.
The all-academic team consists of student-athletes who have earned a 3.2 cumulative grade point average or better and are a starter or key reserve on their team. Student-athletes from nine different schools have been recognized. This year's team consists of 12 members instead of 11 due to a tie for the final spot.
Senior Halie Ecker earned her first Conference USA All-Academic Team honor. She played 27 of 28 matches with 26 starts. She finished second on the team in kills (315) for a 3.15 per set average. Ecker was named to the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll three times and received C-USA Academic medal in 2011. She was a President's List scholar for two semesters and a Dean's List two for semesters as well as a member of the AD Honor Roll for two semesters. She helped the Golden Eagles win the AVCA All-Academic Team Award three times.
Ecker concluded her season with 204 digs (2.02 dps) and tallied 41 total blocks. She ranked in the top 15 in the league in kills. She recorded a season-high 23 kills against UCF (10/19) and had three matches with 20 or more kills, three matches with double-doubles and 15 matches with double figure kills. She was named to the Southern Miss Invitational all-tournament team. She became the 15th Golden Eagle to join the 1,000-kill club,
