Volleyball Concludes Road Schedule with a Pair of Matches to Close Out Regular Season

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss volleyball team gets ready for its final road matches this weekend when the Golden Eagles travel to Charlotte on Nov. 15 at 6 p.m., and to Florida Atlantic on Nov. 17 at 12 p.m.

Southern Miss Preview
Southern Miss enters the weekend with a 14-13 record and 5-7 in Conference USA play after a split weekend against Marshall and FIU last weekend.

Quinci Hayward continues lead the Golden Eagles offensively, averaging 4.06 kills per set while Jasmine Crowell is next at 2.66 kills per set. Elise Ames and Stephany Purdue are right behind at 2.45 and 2.37 kills per set, respectively. Kristen Fleming guides the offense after averaging 11.21 assists per set. Mary Pursell continues to lead the team in digs with a 4.89 per set average while Ames leads the team in total blocks with 81. As a team, USM is averaging 13.58 kills, 14.45 digs and 1.76 team blocks per set.

A Look at Charlotte
Charlotte comes into the match with a 12-15 record and 2-10 in the league. Three 49ers have accumulated over 200 kills, led by Amanda Videmsek with 340 for a 3.53 per set average. Taylor Cannon and Claire Kreuz are next with 234 and 233 kills, respectively. Britney Leigh Held guides the offense as she averages 10.51 assists per set average. Michelle Hovey leads her team with a 5.14 digs per set. As a team, Charlotte is averaging 12.66 kills on .191 hitting, 15.56 digs and 2.07 team blocks per set.

Series Recrod Against the 49ers
This is the 17th meeting between USM and Charlotte in a series dating back to 1991. The series record is tied at 8-8.

A Look at Florida Atlantic
Florida Atlantic is 12-15 overall prior to a match with North Texas and 3-9 in league play. As a team, Florida Atlantic is averaging 12.7 kills per set on .198 hitting, 14.6.00 digs per set and 1.87 team blocks per set. The Owls use a balanced offensive attack as six players have recorded over 100 kills. Kristi Tekavec leads the group, averaging 2.53 kills per set with Alessa Pizzoccheri at 2.31. Jelen Jovanovic runs the offense and is averaging 9.08 assists per set, while Nathalie Rosado paces the team with 3.46 digs per set.

Series Record Against the Owls
This is only the second meeting between the two teams and Southern Miss won the matchup in 2000.
