Volleyball Eagles Host UTSA for All You Can Eat Night
For $10, fans can enjoy unlimited Drinks, Hot Dogs, Popcorn and Nachos.
HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss volleyball team will close out the regular season at home when the Golden Eagles host UTSA in the season finale at 6 p.m. on Thursday night.
This will feature a special All You Can Eat promotion. For $10, fans can enjoy unlimited Drinks, Hot Dogs, Popcorn and Nachos. Fans that purchase this option will receive a wristband that will give them unlimited trips to the Concession Stand. One wristband per person and two items per trip are the stipulations for this.
Additionally, any fans that bring five Canned Food items or more for the SAAC Hunger Food Drive will receive Free Admission to the match. A collection bin for canned food donations will be available at the North Entrance.
Southern Miss is coming off a 2-0 weekend in which the Golden Eagles won a pair of matches in upping their overall record to 23-9 and 10-5 in Conference USA.
Stephany Purdue leads the offensive attack, averaging 3.93 kills per set. Kylie Grandy is next as she is averaging 2.42 kills per set. Grandy is the top server for the Golden Eagles with a season-high 50. Sarah Bell guides the offense with 9.92 assists per set. Mary Pursell paces the team defensively, picking up 4.84 digs per set while Elise Ames is averaging 1.13 blocks per set.
As a team, the Golden Eagles are averaging 13.08 kills, 15.62 digs and 2.17 team blocks.
UTSA enters the match with a 21-7 record overall and 12-2 in league play after two wins last weekend against Louisiana Tech and UAB.
Dajana Boskovic leads the Roadrunner attack with 4.46 kills per set on .272 hitting. Marijeta Runjic and Kasey Kiefer are next with 2.99 and 2.53 kill per set averages, respectively. Amanda Gonzales has taken over setting duties in the past weeks and is averaging 9.33 assists per set in guide the offense. The Roadrunners has used a balanced defensive attack as six players are averaging over 2.00 digs per set led by Annie Kunes with 3.67. At the net, Kylie Schott and Megan Slan are averaging 1.03 and 1.05 blocks per set.
As a team, UTSA is averaging 13.39 kills on a .253 hitting clip, 15.87 digs and 2.33 team blocks.
UTSA leads the overall series against Southern Miss 5-0. This is sixth meeting between the two schools in a series dating back to 1994.
Following the UTSA match, the Golden Eagles will prepare for the Conference USA Tournament, Nov. 20-22 in San Antonio, Texas.
