Volleyball Plays Final Home Matches, Hosts Memphis and UAB

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss volleyball team wraps up their regular season schedule, hosting Memphis on Friday at 7 p.m., followed by a match Sunday at 1 p.m., against UAB.

In support of SAAC's food drive the volleyball team will be accepting canned food donations during their matches this weekend. All fans that donate food items will be able to purchase $2 tickets to the matches on Friday and Sunday. The donation box will be placed at the North Entrance to the Coliseum.

Golden Eagle Preview
The Golden Eagles enter the contest with a 8-18 record overall and 4-10 in league play. As a team, USM is averaging 12.42 kills per set on .180 hitting to go with 14.69 digs per set and 1.94 team blocking. Halie Ecker leads the team with 3.17 kills per set followed by Jasmine Crowell at 2.94 kills per set. Crowell is also tops on the team in blocks at 0.94 blocks per set. Kristen Fleming guides the offense while averaging 10.19 assists per set while Elizabeth Rinaudo is averaging a team-best 4.44 digs per set. Rinaudo became the 15th Golden Eagle to top the 1,000-dig plateau after collecting 20 digs against Rice.

Scouting Memphis
Memphis enters the weekend with a 11-18 record overall and 6-8 in C-USA. As a team, the Tigers are averaging 12.43 kills per set on .196 hitting. Memphis averages 14.88 digs and 1.76 team blocks per set. Altrese Hawkins leads the team offensively with 3.73 kills per set while Jaden Louie and Veronica Zimmerman guide the team with 8.93 and 8.98 assists per set, respectively. Aleksandra Petronijevic is the defensively leader with 4.50 digs per set.

Series Record: Southern Miss vs. Memphis
Southern Miss and Memphis have played 41 times in a series dating back to the 1982 season. This will be the 42nd meeting between Southern Miss and Memphis. The Tigers lead the overall series with USM 23-18.

Scouting UAB
UAB enters the weekend with an 18-12 record overall and 10-4 in league play prior to a match at UCF. As a team, UAB is averaging 12.47 kill on .213 hitting, 16.48 digs per set and 2.50 team blocks per set. The Blazers use a balanced offensive attack as six players have recorded over 100 kills. Sam Serley leads the group, averaging 2.27 kills per set with Sam Skinner at 2.62 and Kate Morrell at 2.48. Alison Woods and Becca Howard run the offense and are averaging a combined 10.32 assists per set, while Rachel Fairbanks paces the team with 4.95 digs per set.

Series Record: Southern Miss vs. UAB
This will be the 41st meeting between Southern Miss and UAB in a series dating back to 1981. The overall series is tied at 20-20 against UAB.

Seniors Halie Ecker and Elizabeth Rinaudo will be honored in a post-match ceremony following the UAB match.
