- The Golden Eagle volleyball team will close out the home portion of their schedule when Southern Miss hosts a pair of Conference USA matches against Marshall on Friday and FIU on Sunday.
The Golden Eagles meet the Thundering Herd at 7 p.m. in Reed Green Coliseum followed by a matchup with the Panthers on Sunday at 12 p.m. Friday is kids day, Seymour Sidekicks get in for free. First 100 fans receive a free pair of Southern Miss Sunglasses. Introducing the Softball Team

Golden Eagle Preview
Southern Miss enters to contest with a 13-12 overall record and 4-6 in Conference USA following a 3-0 sweep of East Carolina last weekend.
Quinci Hayward leads the team offensively, averaging 4.03 kills per set while Jasmine Crowell, Stephany Purdue and Elise Ames are next with 2.54, 2.36 and 2.34 kills per set, respectively. Ames leads the team in blocks with a 0.84 per set average. Kristen Fleming guides the offense with a 10.92 per set average while averaging 2.07 digs. Mary Pursell paces the defense with 4.77 digs per set. As a team, Southern Miss is averaging 13.33 kills on .229 hitting, 14.27 digs per set and 1.77 blocks per set.
Scouting the Thundering Herd
Marshall comes into the match with a 14-13 record overall and 7-4 in league play after dropping a pair of matches last weekend.
The Herd uses a balanced attack as five players are averaging over 2.00 kills per set led by Laura Der at 3.35 kps while Sacha Byous-McConnell is next at 2.73 kills per set. Elyse Panick, Ally Kiekover and Cassie Weaver are averaging over 2.00 kills per set each. Sammie Bane guides the offense with 10.40 assists per set. Dorothy Rahal leads the team in digs with 3.98 digs per set. As a team, the Herd is averaging 12.88 kills per set on .206 hitting, 14.60 digs per set and 1.99 blocks per set.

Southern Miss trails the series with Marshall, 11-6, dating back to 2005.
Scouting the Panthers
FIU owns a 10-13 record overall and 4-6 in league play prior to today. The Panthers played a match at Middle Tennessee on Friday.
The Panthers have a trio of players with other 200 kills each. Kimberley Smith leads the group with 2.90 kills per set followed by Ksenisa Sukhareva and Lucia Castro with 2.87 and 2.71 kills per set, respectively. Ashlee Hodgskin, Jessica Egan and Anabela Sataric guide the offense with a combined average of 9.50 assists per set. Jessica Mendoza leads team in digs with 2.83 digs per set. As a team, the Panthers are averaging 11.90 kills per set on .186 hitting, 13.76 digs per set and 2.43 blocks per set.

Southern Miss trails the series with FIU, 2-0 dating back to 1979.
The Golden Eagles will close out the home portion of their schedule against FIU on Nov. 10 at 12 p.m. Senior Shelby Schacher will be honored in a Senior Day Presentation before the match begins. Then, the Golden Eagles will close out the regular season when Southern Miss travels to Charlotte on Nov. 15 and conclude with a match at Florida Atlantic on Nov. 17.
