HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss volleyball team travels to Marshall to close out the road schedule for a 5 p.m. first serve on Nov. 6.
Southern Miss enters the match with a 21-9 overall record and 8-5 in C-USA play after losing a pair of matches last weekend.
Stephany Purdue continues to the lead the team offensively, averaging 3.94 kills per set while Kylie Grandy is next at 2.39 kills per set. Grandy paces the team with 47 service aces. Mary Pursell picks up 4.73 digs per set and Sarah Bell guides the offense with 9.84 assists per set. Elise Ames leads the team in blocks with 1.13 per set.
As a team, Southern Miss is averaging 12.98 kills on .190 hitting, 15.50 digs and 2.16 team blocks.
Marshall owns a 15-10 record with a 6-6 C-USA record following a pair of five-set matches over last weekend.
Cassie Weaver leads the Thundering Herd offensively with 3.39 kills per set to go with 3.28 digs per set. Taylor Pelton and Ally Kiekover are next, averaging 2.83 and 2.71 kills per set, respectively. Kayla Simmons guides the offense with 9.36 assists per set. Allie Kellerman owns a team-best 4.72 dig per set average.
As a team, Marshall is averaging 12.52 kills on a .201 hitting clip, 15.52 digs and 1.79 team blocks.
Marshall leads the overall series with Southern Miss 11-8. The series date back to the 2005 season.
Following the Marshall match, Southern Miss returns home to host Charlotte for Senior Day on Sunday, Nov. 8 at 12 p.m.
