Golden Eagle Volleyball Hosting UAB in the Annual Dig Pink Match

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss volleyball team will host its annual "Dig Pink Match" when the Golden Eagles take on UAB at 1 p.m.
Southern Miss is coming off a 3-2 win over UTEP on Friday night to improve to 20-7 overall and 7-3 in C-USA play. Mary Pursell recorded her fourth match with 30 digs while Stephany Purdue tallied 21 kills. Sarah Bell finished with 56 assists and 17 digs.
Purdue continues to lead the team in kills with a 3.90 per set average. Kylie Grandy is adding 2.33 kills per set as well. Sarah Bell guides the offense, averaging 9.76 assists per set. Mary Pursell is averaging a team-best 4.64 digs per set while Elise Ames has been big at the net with 1.15 blocks per set.
The team is averaging 12.95 kills on .189 hitting, 15.21 digs and 2.20 team blocks.
UAB enters the match with a 8-17 and 0-10 in league play after a 3-0 loss at WKU. Gabby Deshotel leads the Blazer attack with 4.19 kills per set on .208 hitting. Amber Treace guides the offense with 8.36 assists per set while Emma Schroer owns a team-best 4.34 digs per set.
As a team, UAB is averaging 11.45 kills, 12.96 digs and 1.88 team blocks.
UAB leads the overall series against Southern Miss 26-20, dating back to 1981.
