Getting to know Taylor Gibson

Taylor Gibson is one of nine incoming freshmen for the Golden Eagles. She is a native of Guntersville, Ala., where she played high school volleyball at Guntersville High School. While at Guntersville High School, Gibson was a setter and amassed over 5,800 career assists. She led her team to three straight state titles while earning all-state accolades.

Hobbies include hanging out with friends and family, being on the lake, listening to music

Why Southern Miss? I fell in love with the campus and the atmosphere. The people are so nice and I just felt welcome.

If I wasn't playing college volleyball, I would probably be focusing on school and just getting my degree.

My role models are my grandparents.

Talent I would like to have: to be able to play an instrument

One thing I have to do before I turn 40 is go to Australia.

Career plans: graduate with a bachelors in nursing then go back in a few years and get my masters

If I could bring one thing from my hometown it would be all my friends and our beautiful lake.

Greatest achievements: national honor society and winning three consecutive state championships in volleyball

If I could have one superpower it would be the power of invisibility.

If I was Coach Abbey for the day, I would make practice as fun as possible.

The best thing about Hattiesburg is there are a lot of things to do.

My favorite thing about Southern Miss volleyball is that everyone gets along.

I can't live without my family and friends.
