Stephany Purdue Earns Preseason C-USA Recognition
Senior looks to end outstanding career on a high note
IRVING, Texas -- Southern Miss outside hitter Stephany Purdue has been named to the Preseason All-Conference USA team, and the Golden Eagles were also been picked to finish fourth in the league.
"Stephany is very deserving of being named to the C-USA Preseason team," head coach Amanda Berkley said. "She is one of the hardest working members on the team and one of the most complete players we have had here. I expect her to live up to the high expectations."
Purdue, a 5-foot-11 senior from Mesa, Ariz., was the C-USA Player of the Week twice the previous year (Sept. 8 and Oct. 5). She ranked third in the league last year for kills by returners (3.85/set) and was fifth overall in that category. Purdue also recorded 14 double-doubles.
Purdue in 2015 was also the MVP for the Southern Miss Invitational and Bama Bash, and both were Golden Eagle titles. She has missed just one contest in her career and has started every single other one.
The squad begins its 2016 campaign with the Southern Miss Invitational (Aug. 26-27), where McNeese State comes to town for a 7:30 p.m. Friday night contest. Season tickets are also available.
