HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Head Volleyball Coach Amanda Berkley announced the addition of Morganne Jones of Alabaster, Ala., to the roster for the 2016-17 academic year.
Jones is a libero with the Southern Performance Volleyball Academy. In three years there, Jones recorded 242 service aces, 561 digs, 146 assists and 12 kills. She played on the 18 National team, finishing with 58 service aces and 134 digs.
“Morganne is an amazing young lady with an incredible story. She is an amazing leader and such a strong mentor for our younger players. Morganne has worked incredibly hard to get to this point and Southern Miss is very lucky to get such an amazing young lady.” (Julie Dailey, Director Southern Performance Volleyball Academy)
Jones played at Thompson High School where she helped her team win the Class 6A, Area 7 title and advance to the Elite 8 in the state playoffs.
“I immediately fell in love with the campus and people at USM,” said Jones. “It felt like coming home. The players and coaches were so welcoming. I can’t wait to train and play my first match as Golden Eagle!”
