Volleyball Falls to Houston in Three

HOUSTON, Texas - The Southern Miss volleyball team concluded its road schedule with a 3-0 (25-18, 26-24, 25-18) loss at Houston Sunday afternoon.
Houston took the first set 25-18 when the Cougars tallied 17 kills to 11 against the Eagles. The Cougars hit .400 while holding USM to .147 hitting.
The two battled in the second set, but Houston was able to out-scored the Eagles 6-2 down the stretch for the 26-24 win.
The Golden Eagles held a three-point advantage late in the set when the before Houston used a 5-2 run to tie the set at 21-21. Out of a Southern Miss timeout, the Cougars added a kill, a block and an ace for the 24-21 before ending the set with a kill for the 25-22 win.
Katie Norris led Houston with a match-high 16 kills and 12 digs while Stephanie Nwachukwu added 10 kills.
Southern Miss returns home to host Memphis on Nov. 9 and UAB in Nov. 11 in the final regular season matches of the season. Seniors Elizabeth Rinaudo and Ecker will be honored in a post-match ceremony after the UAB match.
