Southern Miss head volleyball coach Amanda Berkley announced in Feb. 2017 that Danielle Smith-Walker became the new graduate assistant for the program.
"We are lucky to have Danielle at Southern Miss as our graduate assistant coach," Berkley said. "She has the tools to be a great coach with her playing background and her attitude. She will help us with travel, on-court coaching with the middles and recruiting."
Smith-Walker was a four-year letterwinner at Elon, playing her final year in 2014. She started 40 matches in her career that spanned both the Southern Conference and Colonial Athletic Association. Her junior year saw her collect a career-best 172 kills.
Smith-Walker also brings to the Golden Eagles some of her own coaching experience, serving as the head coach at Westchester Country Day School (High Point, N.C.) for one year and in the club ranks for Fusion and Piedmont Volleyball Club for two years apiece. She is a native of Fayetteville, Ga., and attended Sandy Creek High School.
