HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- - Southern Miss' Tanika Liburd placed third in the Central American and Caribbean Games on July 27, becoming Nevis' first female to win a field event medal at the games. Liburd posted a mark of 6.23 meters (20'5.25") in the long jump.

Liburd, who will be a senior, owns the school record at Southern Miss with a mark of 21'8.75". She won the long jump competition in the Conference USA meet and finished sixth at the Mideast Regional. She qualified for the NCAA National meet and finished 12th overall.
