HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- - Former track and field standout Sharlynn Monroe (Bay City, Texas) has been selected to receive an NCAA Degree Completion Award for the 2007-08 academic year, becoming the fifth student-athlete to do so.
Monroe was a two-year letterwinner in track and field during the 2004 and 2005 seasons. While competing, Monroe recorded a personal best 17'11.50" in the indoor long jump and 19'6"in the outdoor long jump, 39'4" in the indoor triple jump and 39'8.50" in the outdoor triple jump.
Monroe finished sixth at the C-USA Meet in outdoor triple jump in 2004 and eighth in the C-USA outdoor long jump in 2004 and 2005.
