SACRAMENTO, Calif. -

Raquel Washington advance to finals in 100-meter hurdles


-Southern Miss' Tanika Liburd and Raquel Washington advanced to the finals in their respective events Wednesday at the 2006 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Sacramento, Calif.

Liburd finished in a tie for sixth in the long jump with a jump of 20'9.25". The finals are set for Thursday at 8:30 p.m.

Washington finished fourth in her heat with a time of 13.46, but it was good enough to advance to the semifinals. Washington then recorded a time of 13.15, finishing ninth overall and advancing to the finals scheduled for Friday at 7 p.m.

The women's 4x100-meter relay team ran a time of 44.46 in the preliminaries and fell short of advancing to the finals.

Ashley Reyer will begin competition in the heptathlon Friday at noon central.
