HATTIESBURG, Miss. -
Cornelius Duncan, Ashley May and Hana Prudilova all recorded regional qualifying marks as Southern Miss concluded the Alabama Relays at the Sam Bailey Track and Field Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Ala., Sunday.
Duncan, who won the 800 meter race Saturday, captured the 400 meters in the meet's final day with a NCAA Regional qualifying time of 47.19. May won the women's triple jump with a regional qualifying mark of 12.66 meters (41-6.5 feet), while Prudilova tallied a throw of 156 feet to win the women's javelin event with her qualifying mark.
In other action, Suesanna Williams tallied second in the women's hammer throw (175-7), while Ricardo Page finished second in the men's shot put with a throw of 53-8.25. Aaron Ammons also ranked fourth in the shot put by registering a heave of 50-1.25.
Page added a third-place showing in the men's discus with a toss of 155-2, while Jessica Bussey added a fifth place in the women's javelin with a 134-1. Cheris Fletcher (54.90) finished third in the 400 meter women's race, while Teria Wheeler (56.55) placed seventh in that event.
In the relay events, the Southern Miss women finished second in the distance medley (12:05.97), third in the 4x200 (1:39.55) and sixth in the 4x100 (47.58), 4x400 (3:46.10) and 4x800 (9:40.26). The men placed sixth in the 4x100 (41.94) and fifth in the 4x400 (3:19.11).
