Ashley Reyer posts personal best in heptathlon

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - - Southern Miss' Ashley Reyer won the women's heptathlon at the Alabama Relays on Friday, scoring 5,141 points and edging out Lauren Maul of Illinois State by five points.
The mark is a personal best and a NCAA provisional qualifying mark. Reyer record wins in the long jump with a jump of 19'4.25" and 800 meters with a time of 2:18.96. She finished second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.78, while finishing third in the high jump with a jump of 5'3". She finished fourth in the shot put and 200 meters with a throw of 35'2" and a time of 25.70 and finished fifth in the javelin with a throw of 98'4".
Southern Miss begins individual competition on Saturday morning and concludes with relays on Sunday.
