The Southern Miss men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed in the LSU Twilight Invitational, tuning up before heading to the Conference USA, Feb. 23-24, in Houston, Texas.
Ashley Reyer finished seventh in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.11. Tanika Liburd finished fourth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.50. Naomi Kiprotich was second in the 800 meters with a time of 2:17.91, while Cheris Fletcher finished eighth with a time of 2:22.01.
Angela Johnson took third in the 200 meters with a time of 25.09, while Liburd was fourth with a time of 25.39 and Tori Wells finished sixth with a time of 25.52. The 4x400-meter relay team finished fourth with a time of 3:55.21.
Liburd finished fifth in the long jump with a jump of 20'5" and Angela Johnson finished seventh with a jump of 19'2". Simona Costache was second in the triple jump with a jump of 40'4" and Aaliyah Shareef finished third with a jump of 39'5".
Ahmed Abdelzaher won the men's high jump with a height of 6'8", while teammate Marcus Brown finished first in the weight throw with a distance of 56'11.25". Cornelius Duncan finished second in the 400 meters with a season-best time of 49.23. Marvin Pinnock was sixth in the 800 meters with a time of 1:58.40. Ken Watson finished third in the triple jump with a jump of 46'4.75". The 4x400-meter relay team finished second with a time of 3:19.60.
Both teams head to the C-USA Indoor Championships, Feb. 23-24.
