The Southern Miss men's and women's indoor track and field teams continue to fair well, turning in several outstanding performances in LSU Bayou Bengal on Friday.
Raquel Washington posted a season-best time in the 60 meter hurdles with a provisional qualifying time of 8.34 and finishing second. She also finished eighth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.65.
Ashley Reyer finished second in the women's pentathlon, scoring 3,579 points only 17 points out of first place. Reyer had wins in the high jump and 800 meters. Naomi Kiprotich finished fifth in the one-mile run with a time of 5:29.41.
Tanika Liburd finished in a tie for seventh in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.58. She finished fourth in the long jump with a jump of 19'8.75". Aaliyah Shareef finished second in the triple jump with a mark of 39'4.50".
Cheris Fletcher finished seventh in the 800 meters with a time of 2:25.94. Angela Johnson turned in a time of 25.48 in the 200 meters, finishing fourth while Tori Wells finished sixth with a time of 25.85 and Erica Alston was eighth with a time of 26.16. Brittany Wood was fourth in the 3,000 meters with a time of 10:28.44
The distance medley relay team finished third with a time of 12:36.39, while the 4x400 meter relay team finished sixth with a time of 4:03.27.
On the men's side, Ahmed Abdelzaher finished first in the high jump with a jump of 6'11.50". David Clyburn finished in a tie for seventh with a jump of 6'4.75". Marvin Pinnock was fourth in the 400 meters with a time of 50.45. Robert Johnson finished fifth in the 200 meters with a time of 23.09. Marcus Brown finished fifth in the weight throw with a throw of 54'9.25".
The Southern Miss teams will compete in the Houston Invitational on Feb. 4.
