Women's Tennis Adds A Pair for 2013-14 Academic Year
Alexandra Kitchen of Palm Harbor, Fla., and Kathrin Waidner of Nesselwang, Germany set to join Golden Eagles.

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss head women's tennis coach Dominic Modise announced the early signing of Alexandra Kitchen of Palm Harbor, Fla., and Kathrin Waidner of Nesselwang, Germany to a national letters of intent and grand-in-aids for the 2013-14 academic year.
Kitchen is a four-star recruiting according to TennisRecruiting.net. She was ranked as high as No. 148 during 2012 while ranking No. 22 in Florida and No. 40 in the Southeast.
Kitchen plays at Countryside High School where she won the district tournament and made the Class 4A state tournament as an individual. She won two matches to advance to the state semifinals before losing to the eventual champion. She was named the Tampa Bay Times' Pinellas County Player of the Year while earning first team accolades.
"Alex will be a great addition to our program here at Southern Miss," said Modise. "She is a hard worker, great competitor and fighter with the potential to develop tremendously into a great collegiate player. We are looking forward to helping her achieve success throughout her college career."
Waidner was ranked No. 235 in Germany where she attends Gymnasium Hohenschwangau.
"Kathrin has a wealth of experience after competing internationally for many years," said Modise. "Her experience will carry over into the collegiate ranks and contribute to our program immediately."
