Women's Tennis Concludes Day One at Halloween Classic
Lanier captures a pair of singles' wins

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss women's tennis team concluded its first day of action in the Annual Halloween Classic and recorded three wins.
Sophomore Kate Lanier advanced to the finals of the finals of the Blue Draw after posting wins over Nicole Breaux of Louisiana-Lafayette, 6-3, 6-3 and followed with a 6-2,6-4 win over Krizia Buck of Central Arkansas.
Mackenzie Oskin dropped her opening set to Danielle Kerindi of Jacksonville State, 4-6, 6-0, 10-6. She then lost to Megan Blue of Murray State, 6-3, 6-1.
Freshman Lauren May lost to Ashley Canty of Murray State, 6-2, 6-2. May will face Sarah Kriem of Southeastern Louisiana in the finals of the consolation Gold Draw.
In doubles, Lanier and May posted an 8-0 victory over Olivia Nguyen and Zoe Bizinos of Jacksonville State and will face Sasha Ruocco/Simona Horsikyan of UCA.
Action resumes on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. at the USM Tennis Courts and the Racquet Club of Hattiesburg.
