HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss women's tennis team concluded its Fall Invitational, recording four wins in singles and doubles competition Saturday.
Lisa Noderer won the back draw of the Gold Draw Saturday when she came back from a set down to defeat Nicole Breaux (ULL) by the scores of 3-6, 6-3, 6-3.
Alex Kitchen advanced to the finals of the Grey Draw, but fell to Klara Skopac of Nicholls State in a hard-fought 7-5, 6-3.
Kathrin Waidner remained undefeated for the weekend after securing a 6-0, 7-6 victory over Elanor Bradshaw (ULL).
The doubles combo of Carolin Drescher and Alex Kitchen finished Saturday with a 1-1 record after posting an 8-3 win over Soledad Calderom and Yasmine Rashard (UNO). The duo dropped their final match against Nelo Phiri and Nicole Breaux (ULL), 8-5 in the Yellow Draw.
Waidner and Noderer ended the weekend 1-1 in doubles after battling Kaltenbacher and Rusakova of Southeastern Louisiana to 9-8 (6) decision. They lost to Clement and Burckhatt (ULL) 8-6.
"I was pleased with our overall performance this weekend," head coach Dominic Modise said. "We had several players turn in outstanding performances and battles against some tough competition. The fall season has been very beneficial to our freshmen. We see where we are and now we know what we have to do to continue to improve and get ready for our spring season."
