Southern Miss Captures Seven Wins in the Golden Eagle Fall Invitational
Kitchen and Waidner post a pair of wins

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss women's tennis team captured seven wins in the first day of the Golden Eagle Fall Invitational on Friday.
Alex Kitchen and Kathrin Waidner ended the day with 2-0 records. Kitchen defeated Hafsa Laribi of UNO in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3, then followed with a three-set win over Isla Brock of Nicholls State, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4. Waidner downed Amiha Mrad (UNO), 6-3, 6-0 and Eva Castiglioni (Nicholls State) 7-5, 6-2.
Carolin Drescher defeated Grace Nolan (UNO), 6-0, 3-6, 6-2 before losing to Marie Aubert (Nicholls State), 7-5, 7-6. Lisa Noderer lost her first match to Daniela Simonova (Northwestern State), 6-4, 7-5 before defeating Marta Sans (UNO), 7-5, 6-2.
Karina Gurgenyan defeated Sandra Ahqvist (Louisiana) 6-2, 7-6 (6), but lost to Regi Nychtailova (Southeastern Louisiana), 6-2, 6-2.
The tournament resumes on Saturday at 8 a.m. at the Southern Miss Tennis Complex.
