MURFREESBORO, Tenn. –Southern Miss women’s tennis team made it four straight shut outs after Saturday’s 4-0 win against Conference USA opponent UAB.

Southern Miss picked up the doubles point in an odd fashion after a default victory on court 3 and a 7-5 win at No. 1 for Carolin Drescher and Alex Kitchen. Saturday’s win makes it four straight for the senior duo.

Golden Eagles took the early 2-0 lead after Claudia Castella earned the second default win of the match. Elena Roca blanked Blazers opponent, Natalie Voss 6-0, 6-0 on court 5 and Tjasa Jerse clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-2 victory for her 15th win of the season.

Head Coach, Dominic Modise said he was very happy with the effort and earning the first conference win.

The Golden Eagles face Middle Tennessee State tomorrow for their final road match of the season. Southern Miss returns home for Senior Day, April 14, to play host to William Carey at 2:30 p.m.
