Women's Tennis Falls to No. 57 Memphis, 6-1
Golden Eagles fall in final home match

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss women's tennis team closed out its home portion of its schedule, falling to No. 57 Memphis 6-1 at the USM Tennis Courts Saturday.
Sophomore Alex Bradley posted the Golden Eagles lone point when she defeated Andrea Arques-Garcia on court six with a 6-2, 6-1 win.
Memphis opened the match sweeping the doubles in earning the 1-0 lead. Stefanie Mikesz and Alyssa Hibberd downed Mackenzie Oskin and Moorea Williams, 8-0 in the three-spot followed by Courtney Collins and Kelly Gray defeating Frances Askew and Kate Lanier 8-2 on court one. Mariya Slupska and Tiffany Welcher topped Elja van Berlo and Alex Bradley 8-5 on court two.
The Tigers grabbed wins on courts four, five and three in sealing the win. Elja van Berlo had her six-match winning streak snapped with a 6-3, 6-4 loss to No. 119 Welcher.
Southern Miss will close out the regular season with a match against UTEP in Jonesboro, Ark., on April 14 then concluding with host Arkansas State on April 15.
