Women's Tennis Secure Win In Singles Play Against Southern

BATON ROUGE, La. - Southern Miss women's tennis win all four singles matches to improve to 8-3 on the season after Saturday's 4-1 win against Southern.

The Jaguars took an early 1-0 lead after winning the doubles points on court 1 and 3. Elena Roca and Lara Isis De Oliveira competed together in doubles for the first time this season and defeated the Jaguars 6-0 on court 2.

Roca's undefeated single season continued on Saturday after a 6-3, 6-1 win on court 5. Roca's win tied the match at 1 and the Golden Eagles didn't look back. Roca improves to 8-0 on the season.

Claudia Castella gave the Golden Eagles the 2-1 lead with a 6-0, 6-3 win on court 6. Castella is on a two-match win streak after Saturday.

Rikeetha Pereira improves her win streak to four after a 6-2, 6-2 win. Tjasa Jerse clinched the match on court 3 with a 6-1, 6-4 finish.

The Golden Eagles compete in a double header tomorrow against Jackson State at 10 a.m. and Mississippi Valley State at 2 p.m.
