HATTIESBURG, Miss. Southern Miss Women's Tennis fell to Southeastern Louisiana in a close match Tuesday afternoon at Tatum Park.
Southern Miss took the lead early, winning the doubles competition. Elja van Berlo and Lauren Gutterman fell to Audrey Chelini and Iva Velkovska, 8-7 (7-4) in the No. 1 position. However, Southern Miss held on, as Hollie Robinson and Shannon Rogers defeated Morgane Dadot and Nadine Steward, 8-2. Zoe Lee and Alexandra Kaluza also tallied a win, defeating Annika Hanke and Ashley Longoria, 8-2.
Southeastern tied the score early in singles, as Annika Hanke defeated Shannon Rogers, 6-1, 6-3. The match continued to stay close, as Zoe Lee defeated Ashley Longoria, 6-3, 6-0, putting Southern Miss in the lead. Iva Velkovska then defeated Elja van Berlo, 6-2, 6-3. Hollie Robinson cinched the lead for Southern Miss, earning a victory over Nadine Steward, 6-2, 6-3.
Southeastern bounced back to win the match 4-3, as Lauren Gutterman fell to Morgane Dadot, 7-6 (7-3), 6-3 and Alexandra Kaluza lost to Audrey Chelini, 6-1, 6-7 (5-7), 6-2.
Southern Miss will return to action Friday, March 6, as the Lady Eagles host Cumberland at Tatum Park. The match is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.
