Women's Tennis Secure First Road Match of the Season

KENNESAW, Ga. - Southern Miss women's tennis earned its first road win of the season against Kennesaw State in 6-1 fashion.

Arina Amaning and Tjasa Jerse won their first doubles match in three matches on Sunday morning. The pair's 6-3 win is the pairs fourth doubles win of the season. Claudia Castella and Rikeetha Pereira improve to 4-0 in doubles play with a 7-5 win on court 3. The two wins clinched the doubles point and Southern Miss continued in winning-fashion into singles play.

Elena Roca is 6-0 on the season now after a 6-2, 6-1 win on court 5. Pereira and Jerse both won their singles matches in straight-set fashion They both have won seven singles matches a piece this season.

Castella gave the Golden Eagles a 5-0 lead with her 6-3, 6-4 finish and improves to 3-1. Amaning won her third match of the season after a three-set finish. Her 1-6, 6-2, 10-4 score improves her to 3-4 this season.

Tanit Lopez Lopez lost the only match of the day on court 4.

Southern Miss travels to Lafayette in a week to play UL-Lafayette at 2:30 p.m.
