Women's Tennis Team Falls to Houston, 7-0

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss women's tennis fell to Conference USA foe Houston with a 7-0 loss on Saturday at the USM Tennis Courts.
Houston (4-1)won the doubles' point in taking a 1-0 lead. Macie Case and Emily Nettles fell to Celia Fraser and Maja Kazimieruk (HOU) at No. 3 by a score of 8-0. The duo of Alexus Coats and Elanor Grossman battled Jo Garvey and Elena Kordolaimi (HOU) at No. 2 before falling 8-5. Kate Lanier and Lauren May held a slim 6-4 lead at No. 1 doubles over Charlotte Phillips and Rocio Martin (HOU) when the match was suspended.
In singles, Dionne Sanders gave the Cougars a 2-0 after posting a 6-0, 6-0 over Case on court 5. Garvey (HOU) followed with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Nettles on court 6. Fraser clinched the match for Houston with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Coats at No. 2 singles.
Grossman lost to Phillips 6-1, 6-1 on court 3 and Kazimieruk downed May 6-1, 6-0 on court 4. Lanier lost to Kordolaimi, 6-2, 6-2 on court 1.
Southern Miss will travel to South Alabama for a match with the start time scheduled for 11 a.m.
