Martha Montano enters her first season as the assistant coach of the Lady Eagle women's tennis team. She comes to Southern Miss after serving as the manager of Guanajuato Tennis Association in Leon, Gto., Mexico, from 2003 until 2006.

Montano graduated from the University of Tennessee at Martin with a degree in international business. While at UT Martin, she played at the No. 1 spot all of four years and finished her senior season with an overall record of 24-3. Montano was chosen as an Ohio Valley Conference player in 2000, 2001, 2002, and was also name the OVC player of the year in 2002.

After graduating from UT Martin, Montano began working as a staff specialist at Manpower in Memphis, Tenn.

Alongside her job as assistant coach at Southern Miss, Montano is pursuing a master's degree in sport administration.

She is the daughter of Enrique and Martha Montano and has a brother named Enrique.
