HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The University of Southern Mississippi softball team will host its final scrimmage of the fall season on Friday, Oct. 25 at the Southern Miss Softball Complex at 5:00 p.m. Admission to the scrimmage is FREE.
"The weekend starts Friday with our Black and Gold game," co-head coach Jon Malgradi said. "It is our last official intersquad game with coaches there. We are excited to see the kids wrap up the fall. They have played really well all fall. We are excited."
The scrimmage pits two of the team's seniors against each other. Senior Taylor Beck captains the Gold Team while senior Mackenzie Sher will direct the Black Team. The two seniors picked their teams and will serve as player/coaches for the exhibition.
The weekend continues on Saturday as the Southern Miss softball team hosts a tailgating event for the USM Homecoming football game against North Texas. The tailgate will consist of a live band performing and fans are welcome to attend for $5.
"Saturday, we are going to have a large tailgate," Malgradi stated. "There will be a live band playing. It is open to the general public - $5 admission."
