Weather Forces Cancellation of Final Softball Home Game

April 28, 2013

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Due to severe weather conditions in the Hattiesburg area, today's Southern Miss Softball home finale against Conference USA foe East Carolina has been cancelled.

The game will not be made up. Southern Miss clinched the weekend series yesterday with 1-0 and 4-2 decisions over the Pirates for their first conference series win of the season. Senior Beth Dietrich closed out her home career with 11.2 shutout innings, surrendering just five hits to the Pirates over two games and striking out six.

Southern Miss is back on the diamond next weekend when they travel to Tulsa for a regular season-ending three-game set.
