HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss softball team will play the first game of its nine-game road swing tomorrow when they travel to Southeastern Conference member Auburn for a single game set for 6 p.m. from Jane B. Moore field.
It will be the second time the Golden Eagles have taken on a member of the SEC, having already split a doubleheader with in-state foe Ole Miss earlier this season.
Southern Miss (11-29) and Auburn (25-15) have squared off just twice with the Tigers taking both of those decisions, a 4-1 win in 2006 and a 3-0 victory in 2011.

Following the Auburn game, the team will reboot and hit the road again on Wednesday, traveling to national power Louisiana-Lafayette (25-11) for a midweek doubleheader. The team will have the weekend off as they reach their Conference USA bye weekend before hitting the road for a six-day, six-game stretch with stops at reigning national champion No. 4/7 Alabama (4/16), Georgia Tech (4/18) and C-USA foe UCF (4/20-21).
The Golden Eagles are coming off a three-game sweep at the hands of conference rival Memphis in which Southern Miss fell 6-5 in Sunday's third game.
In recent weeks, six true freshmen have made up the bulk of the nine-man batting order with three leading the way since conference play began. Katie Cleary (.286), Michelle Stringer (.273) and Morgan McKeever (.271) have posted the best marks at the plate and have combined for 17 of the team's 37 runs batted in over that stretch.
Two more freshmen, Jenifer Gary and Sarah Evans have tallied 11 more, six and five, respectively, to bring the freshmen total to 28 of 37. Additionally, McKeever and Stringer both hold the team's longest active reached base streak, coming in at six and seven games, respectively.
