HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The University of Southern Mississippi softball team opens up a five-game road trip on Tuesday evening at Troy. The Golden Eagles and Trojans will play a doubleheader beginning at 4:00 p.m. at the Troy Softball Complex.

Live stats and in-game tweets (@USMSoftball) will be available throughout the games.

Southern Miss enters the midweek games coming off of a 4-1 week that included a series victory over UTSA. The Golden Eagles are 18-17 overall, recording the most wins since 2010.

Troy (15-21-2) dropped two-of-three to Georgia State over the weekend, allowing six runs in each contest. The Trojans did score nine runs in the second game, the second most runs they've scored in a game this season.

For her efforts on the week, senior Mackenzie Sher was named Conference USA Player of the Week. Sher becomes the second player this season to earn the honor. It is the first time in the senior's career to earn Player of the Week accolades.

Earlier this season (March 17), Meaghen Nelson was tabbed C-USA Player of the week to become the first Southern Miss player since 2011 to earn the accolade. With Sher's honor, it is the first time since 2006 that the Golden Eagles have had multiple Player of the Week awards in the same season. (NOTE: Southern Miss had multiple Pitcher of the Week honors in 2010)

Troy leads the all-time series between the two teams, 10-4. The two teams have never met in Troy, Ala. The Trojans are 5-0 in Hattiesburg and Troy holds a slight 5-4 advantage in neutral site games.
