Softball Opens Home C-USA Play Against LA Tech
First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss softball team returns to the diamond for a three-game Conference USA series with Louisiana Tech in Hattiesburg, Miss. The weekend starts with a doubleheader on Saturday slated for 1 p.m. and concludes with a single game on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Southern Miss enters the weekend with a 13-11 overall record and a 1-2 mark in C-USA play. Louisiana Tech is 16-10 on the season with a 2-1 record in the league.
After a heartbreaking loss to Troy in a two-run walk off homer, the Golden Eagles are looking to bounce back this weekend. Southern Miss comes into the games holding their opponents to three or less runs in the last five out of six games and posting a team 2.32 ERA.
Louisiana Tech holds a slight advantage in the all-time series, 20-16. Southern Miss is 10-6 in Hattiesburg against the Lady Techsters.
The Golden Eagles are 16-11 against the Lady Techsters since reinstating the softball program in 1999. The two teams have met the majority of the times in Hattiesburg, 17 times to be exact. The last meeting at the Softball Complex came during the 2015 season when LA Tech took the series over the Golden Eagles.
The two teams met four times last season, with Southern Miss splitting the games but winning the finale in the C-USA tournament (5-4) hosted by North Texas.
