HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The University of Southern Mississippi returns home for six games beginning with a nonconference midweek series with in-state rival Alcorn State. The Golden Eagles and Lady Braves square off on Wednesday (doubleheader at 4:00 p.m.) and Thursday (1:00 p.m.).

The games will be "Dollar Days" as tickets for both days will be just $1.00.

Southern Miss enters the weekend after opening Conference USA play with a 2-1 series win on the road against UTEP. The opening conference weekend victory was the first for the Golden Eagles since 2006, when Southern Miss defeated Marshall 2 games to 1 in Hattiesburg. In addition, the series victory was first time since sweeping Houston in 2002 that Southern Miss won an opening C-USA series on the road.

The two met again in 2007 at the Ole Miss Red and Blue Classic in Oxford with Southern Miss once against claiming a victory (W, 5-3). Alcorn State won the first meeting between the two teams in Hattiesburg - a 4-1 win in 2009.
