Softball Looks to Bounce Back this Weekend at the Ole Miss Classic
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss softball travels to Oxford to take part in the annual Ole Miss Classic. The Golden Eagles open the weekend on Friday with a contest against Saint Louis before a doubleheader on Saturday with UT-Martin at 10 a.m. and Chattanooga at 12:30 p.m. The team wraps up tournament play on Sunday when they take on No. 17 Ole Miss in the 2:30 p.m. time slot.
The matchup between the Golden Eagles and the Rebels will be streamed online through SEC Network+ and WatchESPN.
Southern Miss enters the weekend 6-9 overall after dropping a midweek heartbreaker to Nicholls State this past Wednesday. Freshman Destini Brown is currently leading the team with a .483 batting average with 14 hits and 6 RBI while senior Samantha Robles is holding a 3.22 ERA with 41.1 inning of work.
Following this tournament the Golden Eagles host Southeastern Louisiana in a single game on Tuesday, March 6 at 6 pm. The game will be streamed on CUSA.tv and can be heard on 1400AM The Score.

Scouting the Opponents
Saint Louis, coming off a 2-2 weekend at the Louisiana Tech Invitational in Ruston, La where they notched wins over Alcorn State and South Dakota while dropping games against Louisiana Tech and UMass-Lowell. The Bilikens are led by a pair of freshmen in Alyssa Chavez (.417) and Sadie Wise (.364) in hitting efforts.
UT Martin is coming off three wins in the Frost Classic last weekend, victories over victories over Alabama State, Western Illinois and Chattanooga. The Skyhawks are posting a .276 batting average as a squad but Alicia Hansen (.429), Gracyn McBride (.417) and Jodie Duncan (.400) each posted at least a batting average of .400 for the past week. In the circle, UT Martin is led by sophomore Hannah Ridolfi with a 3-3 overall record and a 1.49 ERA in 37.2 innings of work.
Chattanooga is coming off a 3-2 weekend at the Frost Classic, the same tournament UT-Martin was just at, and held a .353 batting average over the five games. Hayleigh Weissenbach posted a .471 clip with a homer and four RBIs. Allison Swinford, Celie Hudson and Heidi Hall lead the pack in the circle.
Ole Miss enters the weekend ranked No. 17 in the latest USA Today/NFCA Coaches Poll and No. 15 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Poll. The Rebels advanced to the NCAA Super Regionals last season after hosting and sweeping the Regional Round in Oxford.
