Softball to Host Free Clinic Saturday, Feb. 1

Southern Miss Softball

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The University of Southern Mississippi softball team will host a free clinic this Saturday, Feb. 1 at the Southern Miss Softball Complex. The clinic is open to kids in eighth grade and younger.

The event runs from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. with check-in beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Following the clinic, the softball team will pose for pictures and sign autographs. At 11:45 a.m., the team will host a one-hour practice which is open to the public. This will be an opportunity for fans to see the 2014 squad prior to the regular season.

The 2014 softball season begins on Friday, Feb. 7 at the University of Arizona, as the Golden Eagles square off with the Wildcats in a three-game nonconference series. The first home game of the year for Southern Miss is slated for Tuesday, Feb. 18 against Ole Miss.

Following the clinic and practice session, the Diamond Club will host its annual Meet the Team Dinner at 3:00 p.m. at St. Thomas Church, next to the Southern Miss Baseball Stadium. The event will feature the 2014 Southern Miss softball team , guest speaker James Slife of the U.S. Marines, a silent auction and a raffle.
