Southern Miss will take on No. 1 Seed UAB tomorrow at 4:30 p.m.
Ben Elliott enters his third season as the main athletic trainer for the Golden Eagle softball program.
Under Elliott's guidance, the team receives sport specific health and rehabilitation needs that come with the nicks and bruises of the softball season. Elliott is with the team at all times and provides direct and individual care to each Golden Eagle softballer.
Elliott began his tenure with the team as the Athletic Training department's graduate assistant, a position he assumed in the fall of 2010. In 2012, Elliott was promoted to full-time status after two seasons with the team.
Prior to coming to Southern Miss, Elliott spent the spring of 2010 on an internship basis with Virginia Tech while he completed his degree at Troy University. While with the Hokies, Elliott worked with the football and women's lacrosse programs.
The Oxford, Ala., native began his athletic training career as an undergrad at Troy in 2007. During his two years there, he worked specifically with the men's basketball, football, baseball and track and field programs.
Elliott is the son of Tony and Tanja Elliott and has one sister, Jourdain.
