Women's Soccer Conclude Season At LA Tech
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss women’s soccer concludes it’s 2017 season with a road match against third place LA Tech on Friday at 7 p.m.
The Golden Eagles travel to Ruston, La., after two road games against UAB and Middle Tennessee. The Blazers shut out the Golden Eagles 1-0, only the third time the Golden Eagles have been shut out in conference play this season. The Blue Raiders secured three points against Southern Miss after a 2-1 win. Kierstin Bradley added her fifth goal of the season late in the game to cut the Blue Raider’s lead in half.
Heading into Friday’s finale, Ola Akinniyi leads the team with six goals and one assist totaling 13 points. Becky McMullan’s 13 points come off five goals and three assists. McMullan’s two goals in the opening weekend earned her C-USA Offensive Player of the Week honors.
LA Tech holds the advantage against Southern Miss with a 4-1-2 record. The first ever meeting between the two sides was the lone victory for the Golden Eagles. LA Tech picked up three points in Hattiesburg last season in a 3-0 win.
LA Tech enters Friday’s game on a two-match win streak after a 3-2 win against Middle Tennessee on the road and a 1-0 win at UAB. The Lady Techsters are 12-2-5 on the season and 5-1-3 in conference play.
