Women's Soccer Travel For One Road Conference Game

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – After a strong fought game against No. 25 Rice at home, the Southern Miss women’s soccer team is back in action for one C-USA road match against FAU.

On Thursday, Oct. 5, the Golden Eagles will play in Boca Raton, Fla., at 6 p.m. Thursday’s match will be streamed live on C-USA TV.

The Golden Eagles defeated the Owls last season in a 2-1 win at home. Stephanie Garcia scored the winning goal to secure the three points for the home team in the 55th minute. Garcia has started all 12 games this season for Southern Miss and has scored three goals heading into Thursday’s game. Garcia has also recorded two assists totaling to eight points on the season.

Garcia, the leading goal scorer last season (6), has attempted 27 shots this season, 13 on frame. Southern Miss continues to have a dominant season on the offensive front. The team has totaled 233 shots in 12 games, outshooting their opponents 223-162. The Golden Eagles will look to test Jennifer O’Campo in goal on Thursday who has given up 15 goals this season.

The Owls’ leading scorer, Ebba Blomqvist, has four goals to her name. The Owls are 6-5-2 overall and 1-2-1 in conference play. The Owls win in conference came against Old Dominion at home in a 1-0 win.
