Golden Eagle Flyby -- Coleman, McMullan, Baumhower

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The fifth installment of the Golden Eagle Flyby includes sophomores Beth Coleman, Becky McMullan and Allie Baumhower.

Beth Coleman is one of seven players to play in all 19 games last season and she started 13 as a true freshman. Coleman scored two goals on the season with three assists. She is an exercise science major.

Becky McMullan played in all 19 games as a true freshman where she started 16 games. She tied for the team lead with eight points on the season scoring a team best four goals. McMullan is majoring in sports coaching.

Allie Baumhower saw limited action as a rookie last season, playing in eight games as a true freshman. She scored a goal in the Golden Eagles' 8-0 victory over Mississippi Valley State. Baumhower is majoring in nutrition and dietetics and her sister Anne is also on the team.

Beth Coleman, Midfielder/Defender
Q: What brought you to Southern Miss?
BC: Both of my parents ran track here at Southern Miss. When I took my visit, I loved the campus and the family atmosphere the soccer team had.

Q: How has Southern Miss impacted your life since you started here?
BC: Southern Miss has made me feel more independent and stronger as a person.

Q: What is the biggest difference between high school and collegiate athletics?
BC: In college, everything is better and tougher such as the speed of the game, the skill and the physicality.

Q: What drives you as an athlete?
BC: My competitive spirit drives me as an athlete.

Q: Where did you get the passion for your sport?
BC: My parents taught me to do the best I can at whatever I do so as I continued to play, my passion developed for soccer.

Q: Who would be on your Mt. Rushmore, why?
BC: I would have my mom, dad, brother and sister on my Mt. Rushmore because I look up to all of them.

Q: If you could choose a super power, what would it be? Why?
BC: My super power would be the ability to teleport. With that ability, I could be where ever I wanted to be whenever I wanted to be.

Becky McMullan, Forward
Q: Describe your hometown.
BM: I live in a very typical little Irish town. It is not very big but the people are all so friendly.

Q: Prior to a match, do you have any superstitions or rituals?
BM: I love listening to EDM (electronic dance music) music before a game.

Q: What drives you as an athlete?
BM: I love the competitive side of soccer. I am always driven to do better and I like pushing myself as much as possible.

Q: What was your first thought as you walked onto campus for the first time?
BM: When I first walked onto campus, I thought the campus was so impressive. It looked like something from a movie.

Q: Describe your ideal three-course meal.
BM: My ideal three-course meal would start with nachos as an appetizer. Salted chili chicken would be my main course and for dessert I would have strawberry cheesecake.

Q: What was the deciding factor that made you choose to come to Southern Miss?
BM: The deciding factor that made choose to come to Southern Miss was that I always wanted to come to America.

Q: Describe yourself in four words.
BM: The four words I would use to describe myself are energetic, kind, confident and happy.

Allie Baumhower, Defender/Midfielder
Q: What brought you to Southern Miss?
AB: The ability to play soccer at Southern Miss is what brought me here.

Q: What type of player do you consider yourself to be?
AB: I consider myself to be a defensive type of player.

Q: How did you manage to get into your sport?
AB: My older brother got me into the sport of soccer.

Q: What is the biggest difference between high school and collegiate athletics?
AB: The biggest difference between high school and collegiate athletics is the intensity.

Q: Outside of electronics, what is your most important possession?
AB: My most important possession is my pigs.

Q: Describe your ideal day from start to finish.
AB: My ideal day from start to finish would be to hang out at home all day with my family.

Q: What is the first thing you think about when you wake up in the morning?
AB: The first thing that I think about when I wake up in the morning is getting some coffee.
