HATTIESBURG, Miss. - After Hurricane Isaac forced one change of schedule on Tuesday, it forced the ultimate cancellation of the Southern Miss Soccer Tournament on Thursday announced coach Scott Ebke.
Southern Miss will still host Louisiana-Monroe for their season opener, now scheduled for Monday, Sept. 3 at 1 p.m.
"The storm left us with very few options for the weekend," said Ebke. "Under these conditions, it would not have been a safe environment to play and we will always put the safety of our student-athletes first. We were fortunate to be able to keep Louisiana-Monroe on the schedule and look forward to the challenge they present on Monday."
All of the matches will be played at the Southern Miss Soccer Complex and are free to attend.
