Golden Eagle Soccer Downed at Houston

HOUSTON - Junior Jordan Wagner fired off two shots and freshman Conner McKie added another but Southern Miss (3-10-3, 0-6-1) fell to Houston (5-10, 2-5), 2-0, on Friday.

Houston's Jasmine Martinez put the Cougars up 1-0 on her penalty kick opportunity in the 34th minute and Sharis LaChappelle added the insurance goal in the 50th minute, her third of the season.

Wagner set the tone early for the Golden Eagles by forcing the issue in the 2nd minute of the goal. Southern Miss had a late opportunity for a set piece off a corner kick in the 89th minute but were unable to find the net.

Southern Miss returns to the pitch on Sunday when they head across town to take on Rice. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
