Caseys brings two years of professional playing experience to Hattiesburg.
Betty Casey enters her second season as an assistant coach with the women's soccer team after begin appointed to the position on August 15, 2012 by head coach Scott Ebke.
The Mississippi State graduate comes to Southern Miss after rocketing up the soccer coaching and playing ranks. Following her graduation from MSU in 2006, Casey joined on with Miami Kickers F.C. of the Women's Professional Soccer League (WPSL) where she was named All-Sunshine Conference in 2008 and led the league in overall points and scoring points that season. She was also named the Offensive MVP. She added to her professional playing career in 2009 when she joined on to play with the Vancouver Whitecaps of the W-League in Canada.
As a coach, Casey has served on numerous camp coaching staffs as well as led teams on the high school and premier level.
Immediately following graduation, Casey served as the head coach of the Coral Springs Christian Academy junior varsity and varsity squads. She then made the move from Florida to Canada where she served as the coach and speed trainer for fundamental futbol training squads.
As a collegiate player, Casey is among the most distinguished players in Bulldog history. Her career marks for points (51), goals (20), assists (11), shots (191) and game-winning assists (6) all rank in the top 10 in MSU history. She led the Bulldogs is scoring, shots and points for three consecutive seasons (2003-05), and in two of those years, she also led the team in assists.
