Women's Golf Opens 2012-13 Season at the Old Waverly Bulldog Invitational

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss women's golf team opens the 2012-13 fall season in West Point, Miss., at the Old Waverly Bulldog Invitational, hosted by Mississippi State and played at the par-72, 6,204-yard Old Waverly Golf Club.

Competing with Southern Miss in the season-opening event will be seven teams in Golfweek's Top 100, including No. 33 Arkansas, No. 34 Tulane, No. 42 Kentucky, No. 53 USF, No. 63 Kennesaw State, No. 86 Mississippi State and No. 97 Memphis.

Also competing in the tournament are Cincinnati, Murray State and South Alabama.

Golfers will play 18 holes each day, Monday-Wednesday following a shotgun format.

This will be the first-ever tournament hosted by Mississippi State.

The Lady Eagles are led by junior Brandi Rodriguez, had a stroke average of 77.1 stroke average. She also had two top five, three top ten and four top 20 finishes, including medalist honors at the Lady Eagle Invitational.

Newcomers for Southern Miss include Kirsten Hensley, Juliana Herrera, MacKenzie Kelly, Jennifer Nguyen, Kaylee Random and Kristen Van de Voorde.

Head coach Julie Gallup enters her 13th year as the leader of the Lady Eagles.
